Story Behind the Album

Written during my last legal months of childhood & final year of schooling during the height of the pandemic, the combinations of strings, flurries & lyrics reflected perfectly all of the cascading emotions that I had felt before turning 18. This album will forever be a staple for my life’s bridge from childhood to adulthood.

An album of grief, death, loneliness & longing, desire, sexuality, the unbeknownst, kindergarten, Chris at my door & Cali watching as I strum. A friend & another at advance in fancy. My mom. A best friend & the mountains laying between us. Beautiful rose hair & my favorite video game. All this time with the world shut down & so much to miss. I share this & wrote this for I don’t know who during many late nights & dew rises.

Album mastered by Jimmy Cucchiara - Produced by Me - Recorded with help from Patrick Griffin & Zane Hyatt - Cajon by Everett Babcock - Female vocals by Sage - Photo taken by Lex Adair.

  • Zane Hyatt is a multi-artist (predominantly music) who I met in high school, considered by me as a brother after our time traveling Europe together.

Below is a single that I’m featured on, titled “Falls Back,” that Zane produced in his EP “Schmonk.” Check out his sweet jams below!

COLLABORATORS

Sage & Budaqui are two artists that I know personally who I’ve gotten to consistently collaborate with in both visual and audible mediums. Give a click to their names for more information.

  • Sage McNeely is a singer-songwriter who I had performed with in a high school group. You might know her from her well-deserved Top 20 position in American Idol’s Season 20.

I was able to capture her unique essence for the cover & canvases of her first release “Metamorphosis,” available for streaming now on all platforms.

Below is a single titled “No Face” from my original album featuring Sage, a cover of Haley Heynderickx’s “No Face.” Check it out now!

“Thank You, Kesem”

An original song by LEX ADAIR & TYLER GRIFFIN

Dedicated to Camp Kesem, a camp for children and teens impacted by a parent’s cancer. This song was published in 2020 & had an overwhelming 3K+ listens. Unfortunately, the song was taken down due to technical issues (along with the rest of my “Me” EP), but will hopefully be revised and made anew in the coming months.

Camp Kesem has been a backbone to my creative career. At eight years old & dealing with cancer directly, little troubled me had a reliable support system for a week, yearly. Over years, this place would carve itself as a main source of inspiration leading up to my mom’s untimely death; inspiration to capture the moments that truly matter. These would be moments of beauty in which people come together with like-minded individuals, become truly themselves, and realize that you can still thrive despite how horrific or lonely things may become. Before my mother’s passing, I would always come home and show her the videos I’d made from my travels since she couldn’t be there for herself. Since, my life goal surrounding filmmaking has been to document the magic that this world holds in its corners; to help people see what life has to offer, and to give hope to those who wish to be enveloped in said magic.

“Thank you Kesem for being there for me when I needed you most. Thank you for honoring who are bound chains and held back from experiencing life to the fullest because of this nasty disease we call cancer. [Thank you Kesem] for giving me a place of sweet vulnerability and security and comfort and love that so many others things in life fail to live up to. Thank you, Kesem, for being my family.”

- Me, to Camp Kesem’s UCLA Chapter

KESEM ACROSS AMERICA

Lex Adair is a singer-songwriter who I befriended at Camp Kesem before rekindling a much deeper friendship in high school. After writing and releasing “Thank You, Kesem” together, we were contacted by Kesem’s national event team to perform said song in cities like Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, etc., mirroring a mini tour.

This process was halted after the 1st performance due to COVID-19 and has not been rescheduled. Keep an eye peeled for future performances.

LOOK OUT FOR FUTURE MUSIC VIDEO RELEASES, SINGLES & PERFORMANCES.

MICE

My 1st release during my junior year of high school; “Mice” is a messy amateur cover of Billie Marten’s “Mice,” a song which I held to high importance during said time period.

Track & video both produced by me. Nothing special, only shenanigans.
